A mitigation technique for torque ripple in a brushless DC motor by controlled switching of small DC link capacitor

High performance applications are now days utilizing the brushless DC motor (BLDC) drives due to its ruggedness, compactness, high torque weight ratio, dynamic response etc. feature of square-wave current excitation waveforms in BLDC allows some major system simplifications for trapezoidal motors. The developed is constant ideal conditions this when back emf waveform type. Despite this, physical construction and settings, ripple exists output an undesired phenomenon also linked motor's control driver sides. This paper provides a new way reducing simple, compact cost effective. To prove correctness compensation technique, circuit modelled simulations carried examine theoretical drive. Experiments on prototype drive were conducted further validate analysis as well utility proposed technique.
